Help Ebola orphans like Abu find new families and get back to school.

Eighteen months ago, eight-year-old Abu (in yellow) lived a regular life in Sierra Leone with his mum and dad, two brothers and a sister. Then Ebola swept across Africa. Hundreds of thousands of people died. Abu is the only survivor from his immediate family.

According to aid groups, 12,023 children lost their primary caregiver to Ebola and 3,241 children like Abu lost both parents. These children face stigma, mental trauma, and hunger. For many, their education – their only route out of poverty – has also been put on hold.

Abu was lucky, he found his aunty, however, even he has already missed an entire year of school. Hundreds of other orphans are in care homes waiting for a family and a chance to go back to school. Unfortunately, few people have the money to take on these extra mouths to feed and will only do so if they receive support with food and school fees for the child.

That's why Mission Direct, a charity founded on Christian principles, and it's volunteers are in Sierra Leone. Every day, we're supporting the nation’s orphans by helping to provide safe care homes and ensuring that these children have the school fees and food they need to be accepted into new families.

At Mission Direct, we believe we make a personal difference to each individual child that we help. Will you join us – it's so simple?

Sign the pledge today to show your support for Mission Direct's work to support Sierra Leone's Ebola orphans. After you sign, double your impact by sharing Abu's story with your friends and family.
