End Whaling in Iceland

The Icelandic government issued new quotas for hundreds of minke whales and endangered fin whales to be harpooned annually for the next five years.

It is vital that we act now to protect whales for future generations. A quick note to the Icelandic government will help protect whales.

Please send a message asking for the cancellation of these quotas immediately and calling for an end to whaling in Iceland once and for all.
Dear Minister Johannsson,

I am extremely disappointed to see that you have recently announced a new five-year quota for the hunting of fin and minke whales in Iceland.

Whaling is cruel and unnecessary.

There is little or no money to be made by any form of Icelandic whaling. It seems more and more like the hobby of one man and a few supporters.

This whaling damages Iceland’s international reputation as a country that is otherwise thought to be caring of the environment and its biodiversity.

Responsible whale watching is clearly the best way to take advantage of the presence of whales around Iceland. I ask that you do all you can to encourage this and all you can to discourage whaling.

Sincerely
