Bring Home Kidnapped American Siblings Eslam and Zainab Chebbi!

On Friday, November 11, 2011, Faical Chebbi illegally abducted Eslam Chebbi (5) and Zainab Chebbi (2) to his birth country - Tunisia. Despite having been naturalized as an American, Faical grew weary of failed attempts to survive in the U.S. and, in a last attempt to harm his now ex-wife, he abducted their two small children, and returned to Tunisia.

Having full legal and physical custody by mutual consent, Edeanna Chebbi had registered all legal custody documents and orders regarding the children with the Tunisian Embassy in Washington, DC. She was given direct assurances from the embassy that the children could not be issued Tunisian passports given this documentation.

Despite this, the embassy issued Tunisian birth certificates and passports in both children's names, and without knowledge or consent of their mother. This act contributed to the kidnapping of Eslam and Zainab.

Tell President and Mrs. Obama as well as Secretary Clinton to utilize all diplomatic and legal resources available to ensure that Eslam and Zainab Chebbi are returned to their mother in the U.S. Ask them to condemn the practices of the Tunisian consulate that contribute to international child abduction. Raise your voice and demand that our State Department act in full capacity to protect its citizens.

Join us in the fight to bring Eslam and Zainab back home to the U.S., to their family and friends, and the open arms of a mother who can't wait to embrace them!
I am writing with grave concern regarding the kidnapping of Eslam and Zainab Chebbi. Their mother, Edeanna M. Chebbi contacted Secretary Clinton's office a few weeks ago regarding Department of State case #: OCS 2011 319 2852.

On November 11, 2011, Faical Chebbi illegally abducted Eslam (5) and Zainab (2) Chebbi to Tunisia, his country of birth. Eslam and Zainab are both U.S. citizens, born in the state of Maryland to Edeanna Chebbi, a U.S. citizen.

Having full legal and physical custody by mutual consent, Edeanna had registered all legal custody documents and orders regarding the children with the Tunisian Embassy in Washington, DC. She was given direct assurances from the embassy that the children could not be issued Tunisian passports given the documentation provided. Despite this, Faical was able to obtain Tunisian birth certificates and passports in both children's names, without the knowledge or consent of their mother.

I urge you to contact the Tunisian Ambassador, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Justice in Tunisia to register your personal concern for the outcome of this case in Tunisian courts, and the return of the children to Edeanna Chebbi in the U.S.

I urge you to request that Ambassador Tekaya provide copies of all of the documents submitted by the Embassy of Tunisia in the names of Eslam and Zainab Chebbi to their mother, Edeanna Chebbi.

Additionally, I urge you to request that Ambassador Tekaya investigate the employees of his embassy and take action against those who aided Faical Chebbi in the abduction of Eslam and Zainab by providing the aforementioned documents without the knowledge or consent of their mother, contrary to their assurances to her.

Finally, I urge you to utilize all diplomatic and legal resources available to you to ensure that Eslam and Zainab Chebbi are returned to the U.S. to their mother, Edeanna Chebbi.

Two American children were kidnapped from the U.S. with the aid of an embassy on U.S. soil. This is a crime against Americans in America. This matter is not only a concern of the mother, but speaks directly to the abilities of our State Department to protect the citizens of this nation.

I thank you for your full consideration and action on this matter.

Sincerely,
