Protect the Rights of Indigenous Peoples!

The United States is currently reviewing its position on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. This declaration would help protect the rights of indigenous communities around the world.

The U.S. should be a leader in promoting these basic rights, and now is the time to speak out and to urge the White House to endorse the UN Declaration.

Tell President Obama to endorse the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
As an American, I'm proud of the human rights values our country embraces. It's time to take our support of freedom, equality and liberty to a higher level. I urge your administration to endorse the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as adopted by the United Nations on September 13, 2007 in New York.

It is very important for the United States to be a leader in human rights protection. Around the world, human rights of indigenous peoples are being ignored and are often violated. Violations of indigenous peoples' basic human rights, such as rights to land, resources and the environment, often lead to disastrous consequences for these communities.

I strongly encourage the United States to endorse the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. By endorsing the Declaration, the United States will affirm to the world that indigenous peoples have the right to be free from discrimination and forced assimilation, and the right of self-determination. We ask that the United States continue its record as a leader in human rights through the support of this important declaration.
