Like many of our veterans, Bryan dreaded the coming of night. During the day, the former Army armored crew member could block out the memories with anger or retreat to the pitch blackness of a room he created as a refuge. But late at night, after he finally managed to get to sleep, everything came rushing back.

Bryan knew he was in trouble. His non-stop angry outbursts had alienated his wife and young children. The last shreds of his sanity were slipping away. So he checked himself into a rehabilitation facility in Tampa, and that's where he heard about a program made possible by people like you.

The program was K9s For Warriors. That's where Bryan met Dell — a handsome black lab who just weeks before was at a high-kill shelter, scheduled to be put down. When Bryan and Dell met for the first time on the Camp K9 campus, Bryan was still mentally battered. He wasn't ready to trust. But all that changed one day when Bryan had a panic attack during one of his first days of training. He collapsed and began sobbing uncontrollably.

Dell climbed into Bryan's lap and began gently licking him. That day was the beginning of a new life for both of them. After the program ended, the special partnership between Bryan and Dell continued to work its healing magic.
