Better treatment of cats, no more allowing cats to roam and fend for itself. If it is a pet, then care for it as such.

In May of 2022 I moved to Salmon Arm BC. Unfortunately that very day one of my cats got away from me and is lost. In my searching for my cat I have discovered how many people allow their cats to roam anywhere and become lost or hurt or dead. Why should a cat be treated any different than a dog when it comes to care. It cant be just because dogs have any more value than a dog, or that you don't hear of cats attacking people like you may hear with dogs. Cats deserve as much respect and care as a dog or any other pet. Stop allowing people to seemingly treat cats like they are simply a replaceable pet. If you can't keep your cat inside or enclosed in a catio then you should not have that cat. There should be consequences for those who leave cats to roam and fend for themselves, at that point you are not a proper owner of that pet and should be flagged or fined if their cat goes missing simply due to undue care and attention of that animal.
