It is our understanding that current Florida Laws, as well as most other States, require all convicted Sex Offenders to register with the National Sex Offender Registry.
It is a known fact to us, as many others, that the registry causes extreme conflicts and further hardships in the lives of those whose addresses, pictures, and personal information is made to be easily found by the public. With this being said, it is also our opinion that an 18 year old is still a child and should be given leniency to where he/she should not have to have his/her name and future slandered and ruined because of a youthful mistake.
We petition the State of Florida to pass a law in which any persons convicted of a sex crime, where the offender is 18 and engages in CONSENSUAL sexual relations with an underage individual, can now be subject to the following terms:
1. Will not have his/her information posted anywhere public (including the Sex Offender Registry).
2. That the accused in question will not be charged with an actual sex crime.
3. Upon future relocation of residency in other States, no other States will be able mark them as a Sex Offender.
4. This new law would be made active for all past, present, and future "offenders" in order to allow past youthful offenders to finally receive their chance to live a normal life.
Dear [ MEMBER OF CONGRESS AS LISTED ABOVE OR YOUR OWN CONGRESSMAN],
I understand that current Florida Laws, as well as most other States, require all convicted Sex Offenders to register with the National Sex Offender Registry.
It is a known fact to me that the registry causes extreme conflicts and further hardships in the lives of those whose addresses, pictures, and personal information is made to be easily found by the public. 4. This new law would be made active for all past, present, and future "offenders" in order to allow past youthful offenders to finally receive their chance to live a normal life.
I urge you to seriously consider my request and look forward to your support and response.
Sincerely,
