Stand up for fair treatment and equal pay for supermarket workers

For years supermarket workers have served customers, stocked shelves, run checkouts, managed departments and kept stores operating.

Ongoing equal pay claims allege that some store-based workers may have been paid less than Warehouse distribution workers, in circumstances where their work may be argued of equal value.

Equal pay law exists to prevent unfairness. It recognises that jobs don't need to be identical to deserve equal pay. What matters is whether they require similar levels of skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions.

While the legal process continues, workers deserve fair pay.

That's why we're calling on Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco to:

  • Treat all workers fairly and transparently.
  • Ensure employees aren't disadvantaged for asserting their legal rights.
  • Review pay structures so work of equal value is rewarded fairly.
  • Put fairness and equality at the heart of future pay decisions.

Why you need to act now

Thousands of current and former supermarket workers may be unaware they could have rights relating to equal pay.

By signing this petition, you can help send a clear message that workers deserve fair pay, transparency and equal treatment.
