Stiffen Hate crime penalties
Hate crimes are on the rise in the U.S. We need to stiffen up the sentences for any crime motivated by hate targeting a specific group of people. The Right seems to consider this a closet issue. Let your voice be heard and let them know you won't stand for it.
On average, the added sentence to a hate crime ranges from 1 month to 5 years. That is unacceptable. Hate crimes are the most premeditated and viscious of all crimes and their punishment should reflect this. At present a hate crime murder get approximately 15-25 years prison time and 5 years added on for the hate crime. Remember their is parole and early release for good behavior. Some criminals only spend 10 years of their sentence behind bars. Their needs to be a mandatory life sentence for any hate crime murder with no parole. This would also cause the youth to think their posistion before they are in too deep. Please sign this petition now.
