Google Maps - Remove or Fix Street View
Google Maps has recently added a new feature: street view.
Their definition: explore neighborhoods--virtually.
As you know, we have always valued our privacy. Well, Street View currently shows faces and other details on their zoomed in pictures, and they show some revealing pictures (such as people peeing on the side of the road, children, and even females sunbathing). Do you want this to be the future - all our activities being recorded on Google Maps, for the world to see, with absolutely no privacy outside buildings and homes?
Granted, we are in public. But, we should be entitled to a level of confidentiality, even in public. This is why we believe that Google should at least distort faces and car licenses, plus other identifying information, and ensure that they respect our privacy. This is one of the great things about being Americans - we have laws protecting our privacy, and while we are in public, it is important we respect those who do not want their pictures be taken.
Technology is powerful. It can be put to a lot of good uses. However, it can also be abused - and this is the direction Google is taking us into.
