Remember Santa Ana's Victim of Terrorism: Name a school in Alex M. Odeh's honor!!!
This petition requests the Santa Ana Board of Education name a school in honor of Alex M. Odeh, the victim of a domestic terroist attack at his Santa Ana office on October 11, 1985.
On October 11, 1985 the terroism that has long plagued the Middle East struck right in the heart of Santa Ana, California, some 191 months to the day prior to the attacks of 9-11-01. On that fateful day, Alex M. Odeh, the regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, was murdered when a pipe bomb exploded as he opened the door to his Santa Ana office. Odeh, a man well respected in both the Jewish and Arab communities, was targeted because of his political views and statements by him that some viewed as being too critical of the Israeli government in regards to their treatment of the Palestinian people. The cowards responsible for this despicable act have never been brought to justice and for political reasons probably never will be. Therefore, in the absence of justice on the part of the legal and judicial authorities, we ask that the Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education provide a justice of their own: Honor Alex M. Odeh by naming a school after him. Don't let his death be his legacy to Santa Ana, rather let it be the education of our youth, which in turn may prevent such a shameles tragedy from occuring in the future. Lets not let the cowardly terroists have the last word.
