Trump Wants a 250-Foot Monument to His Own Ego Right Outside Arlington National Cemetery. Stop Him!

A 250-foot gaudy, golden arch could soon loom over the hallowed ground of Arlington National Cemetery, where hundreds of thousands of America's fallen soldiers and heroes rest. These are sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, cherished loved ones who gave everything for this country. But the arch isn't to honor their sacrifice -- it is Donald Trump's pathetic attempt to honor his own vanity and delusion.

And it gets worse. Trump now says it won't just be a monument. He wants it to be a military outpost, with snipers perched on the roof and swarms of drones ready to launch over our nation's capital, just steps from the graves of our heroes.

Sign the petition urging Congress and the National Capital Planning Commission to stop Trump's triumphal arch before a single stone is laid.

Trump simply announced on Truth Social that the arch would double as a "military complex" that stores large numbers of drones, places snipers across the roof and plaza, and keeps a stockpile of sniper ammunition on site. He gave no details on cost, timing, or who approved the change, and the Department of Defense refused to explain it. Families who come to Arlington to grieve could soon be mourning their loved ones in the shadow of a weapons stockpile.

Thankfully, and rightfully, people are fighting back. More than 100,000 Americans sent comments to the National Park Service about the arch. A group of Vietnam veterans, men who already sacrificed so much for this country, sued to stop it. They argue it would desecrate the sacred ground of Arlington and that the president has no right to build it without Congress. Veterans and their families and loved ones staged an in-person protest, vehemently opposing Trump's deep disrespect for that sacred land that is so precious to so many. Once again, they are standing up to defend what matters most.

A federal judge has ordered the administration to give 48 hours' warning before starting any work at the site. That warning matters because the administration doesn't seem to be waiting. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said they planned to break ground soon, even though the National Capital Planning Commission and other federal reviewers hadn't given final approval.

We've seen this before. Trump's White House ballroom moved ahead despite fierce objections, and the Supreme Court let construction continue. If no one with real authority steps in, this arch could follow the same path. Once it's built, there's no taking it back.

The National Capital Planning Commission can reject this project outright. Congress can refuse to authorize or fund it. Together, they can make sure the ground beside our fallen heroes stays a place for mourning and remembrance, not a weapons depot in honor of a vain wannabe dictator. Our fallen soldiers can't speak up for themselves anymore, but we can.

Sign the petition and tell Congress and the National Capital Planning Commission to stop Trump's military arch for good!
