Saudi Arabia: What Happened to Jamal Khashoggi?

On the 2nd of October, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi walked into the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey to get some paperwork and never came out. Saudi Arabian authorities originally claimed that he left the consulate, but Turkish authorities reported that he was assassinated inside.

Saudi Arabian officials have now changed their story, claiming that Khashoggi was killed in a fist-fight. The ever-changing narrative coming from the Saudi Arabian authorities is untrustworthy, and must be investigated.

Khashoggi lived in Saudi Arabia until he left for the United States last year to avoid facing persecution amidst a wave of arrests in the country. For activists and dissidents in Saudi Arabia and the world over, the disappearance and possible murder of Khashoggi means that the hope of a safe place abroad is diminishing.

The world needs to know what happened to Khashoggi – together we need to demand answers. With enough pressure we can get the Secretary General of the UN António Guterres to set up an independent investigation.

Write to the UN Secretary General António Guterres and demand an independent investigation now.

Without an independent investigation, we may never get the full truth about what happened to Jamal. Take action now.
