Petition for Balanced Broadcasting in Manhattan, Kansas

As radio listeners in the Manhattan area, we are concerned that radio programming on KMAN Radio is too heavily skewed to a conservative political point of view. In order to achieve better political balance that will promote public dialog and democratic discourse, we encourage radio station managers to consider switching all or part of their programming to Progressive Talk radio.

Progressive Talk radio is currently unavailable to Manhattan radio listeners except through satellite radio or the internet. Progressive Talk will succeed because Kansans of all political backgrounds enjoy healthy debate and are starved for a balanced perspective on our airwaves. The airwaves are public property. As the owners of the airwaves and believers in hearing all sides of issues, we request that the three hours of Rush Limbaugh be pulled from the our airwaves on Manhattan Broadcasting’s KMAN radio and be replaced with programs like Democracy Now! and Al Franken’s program from Air America .

We want and will listen to progressive radio. The time has come for Manhattan to have a variety of opinions on our airwaves!
