VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE AND IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF FRANCIS ABAYOMI AS PARTY CHAIRMAN OF THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS, OGUN CHAPTER

    15TH October, 2018.

    The National Chairman,
    African Action Congress.
Cc: The Deputy National Chairman (Administration), AAC
    The Secretary, AAC
    The National Legal Adviser, AAC
    Mr. Francis Abayomi

VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE AND IMMEDIATE REMOVAL OF FRANCIS ABAYOMI AS PARTY CHAIRMAN OF THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS, OGUN CHAPTER

Following a meeting of the Ogun State Working Committee of the African Action Congress held on 13th October 2018 at its secretariat, a vote of no confidence has been passed on the current chairman, Mr. Francis Abayomi, for offences including but not limited to:
Marginalization and impersonation of existing State and LGA executives at the national convention – In a bid to perpetuate his selfish ambition and vendetta against certain individuals in the national executive, Mr. Francis Abayomi single-handedly and illegally inserted and removed names from the list ratified at the state congress. His aim wasto present (and control) the maximum total of 42 voting members to the convention. Names removed were those with perceived “disloyalty” to him, thereby marginalizing and disenfranchising these duly elected members. This is very dishonest, PDP and APC-esque behavior, and we reject it in all its entiretyin the AAC.
Life threats to dissenting executives and members –Another behavior reminiscent of the parochial old world order we are seeking to change, Mr. Abayomi multiply threatened to diabolicallyattack people who disagree with his increasingly-selfish points of view. We hold the view that democracy, and even intelligence, includes being able to entertain and accommodate opposing views, and we reject dictatorial, un-intelligent tendencies that can derail our young party.

Wilful disruption of duties of other state officials from discharging their duties – He withheld all apparatus of the State secretariat including the keys to the offices and they are only given to his cronies. He decides within his cronies meetings and agenda without adequate consultation with other officials, including the PRO and the Secretary, therefore denying these officials opportunities to contribute to the success of the meeting. This often leads to information breakdown within communication channels to the LGAs because the state PRO is never allowed to perform his duty of information dissemination. All these are to mention a few.

In a stormy 7-hour meeting yesterday in the state secretariat, where 20 members of the State Working Committee were present, Mr. Abayomi was offered the latitude to explain himself. He unapologetically chose not to, preferring untenable prattles and prevarications, while still displaying the behaviors he had been accused of. In keeping with the constitution of the AAC therefore, we resolved to pass a vote of no confidence on his person, and sign for his removal as the chairman of Ogun State with immediate effect.
Moving forward, we also agreed that, pending a special congress to elect a new chairman, Mr Adewale Adeeko should resume the duty as the State chairman of AAC Ogun State.
    Thank you very much.

    Yours truly,

Adeeko Ibukun (Assistant National Secretary - south west)
