Republicans: Don't Abandon Our Farmers

As House Republicans bicker and ignore a ticking clock, farmers hit by drought are in dire need of food stamp and crop insurance assistance.

The current farm bill in place somewhat aids farmers in times of climate change. But it expires on Sept. 30th.

The window is limited for renewing the bill or passing a new one before House recess, especially considering how neither the current bill nor the new proposal take any steps to limit greenhouse gas emissions or improve soil. Farmers may get temporary relief, but in the process they'll only be exacerbating the original problem.

So instead of wasting taxpayer dollars on a hasty, incomplete plan, let's ask the House to extend the current bill for long enough to find a new approach to agricultural aid that will help farmers reduce climate vulnerability.
Dear House Republicans,

The current farm bill expires on September 30th, and we want to ensure that you have taken into account both the security of farmers and the future of the agricultural industry.

We urge you to extend the current bill for the next year to allow for time to draft a new approach to agricultural aid that will help farmers reduce their own climate vulnerability.

Sincerely,
