Call on big brands to take responsibility for human rights abuses in the palm oil supply chain

Some of the world's most popular companies are selling food and cosmetics containing palm oil tainted by shocking human rights abuses in Indonesia, including forced and child labour.

Corporate giants, such as Nestlé, Kellogg's, Colgate, Unilever and Procter & Gamble are turning a blind eye to exploitation of workers in their palm oil supply chain. These companies reassure their customers that they are using "sustainable" palm oil, yet they fail to do basic checks to ensure that the palm oil they use has been produced free from human rights abuses.

Amnesty's research shows severe labour abuses on palm oil plantations in Indonesia, including unsafe working conditions, discrimination against women, unrealistic targets and penalties, and children doing hazardous work.

Join us in calling on the makers of Dove soap, KitKat, Knorr soup, Pantene shampoo, Gerber baby cereal, Colgate toothpaste, Good Start baby formula, Quality Street chocolates and Magnum and Parlour ice cream and demand that they take responsibility for human rights abuses in their palm oil supply chain. Sign the petition to ask big brands whether popular food and cosmetics sold in Canada contain palm oil tainted by human rights abuses.

Dear Colgate-Palmolive, Nestlé, Proctor & Gamble Company, Unilever and Kellogg's,

I am shocked to learn that your company’s products contain palm oil tainted by human rights abuses in Indonesia, including child labour. I urge you to take responsibility for human rights abuses in your supply chain and:

• Publicly disclose which of your products contains palm oil from Wilmar’s Indonesian palm oil operations.
• Tell your palm oil supplier, Wilmar, to stop abusing their workers’ rights
• Address the harms suffered by workers, including children, who have been involved in hazardous work on plantations, in collaboration with Wilmar.
