No uranium mining in New Brunswick
This petition is aimed at all concerned citizens in New Brunswick that understand the dangers of uranium mining and want to stop the madness! It builds on the 1353 petitions already signed on SCARE NB-sponsored site.
We the undersigned want to keep this province safe from the harmful effects of uranium mining.
We refuse to be victims of the proven negative effects on our health, our land and our water. The uranium tailings ponds and piles contain over one dozen harmful radioactive waste products the entire area consisting of the site, the tailings ponds and piles require perpetual care and has to be marked off with Radiation Danger signs. It will be unhabitable virtually forever.
Uranium companies usually go into areas where the people are poor, ignorant of the effects from the mining or where leaders are greedy for the money. We would like to say to the government and to the uranium companies that we are not that poor as to need those types of mining jobs or the royalties; we are not stupid enough to believe that uranium mining ' is a good thing' and we are not so desperate as to sell out our future and that of our children for a few dollars in royalties.
We say no way to uranium mining in our province.
