We the undersigned residents add our voice and ask that the communities of Austin, East and West Garfield Park, and North Lawndale be added to the eligible communities for NSP 2 funds.
We ask that NSP2 resources will be targeted to areas that need government intervention for real estate recovery, rather than areas where the private marketplace is likely to absorb vacant units as the economy recovers from the current recession and real estate activity increases.
We ask that applications for NSP2 funds that misdirect funds to areas like Logan Square and Albany Park that do not fit NSP criteria be rejected from receiving NSP funds.
We ask that applications that earmark more than 2% of their total requested amount for purposes of demolition and redevelopment be declared a misdirection and mis-use of NSP funds.
We ask that NSP funds be focused on reclaiming foreclosures and that a rule is put in place that they are not to be use as a finance tool for stalled multi-family new construction such as proposed by Chicago Rehab Network%u2019s NSP 2 Application.
THE WEST SIDE CHICAGO COMMUNITIES OF AUSTIN, NORTH LAWNDALE, EAST AND WEST GARFIELD PARK ARE NOT LISTED AS ELIGABLE FOR NSP2 FUNDS; YET, THEY WERE LISTED FOR NSP1.
THIS MUST BE FIXED.
