Chad, Support Forcefully Evicted Families

Authorities in Chad conducted forced evictions of hundred of families in order to make way for a hotel in the capital. Amnesty International reports that over 670 people and a school were completely demolished. These people were not given alternatives and have very few options. They have not been compensated in any way and have not been given any support by the government for their forced eviction. This has left most of them with nowhere to go as they are living outside under trees.

Evicting families to make way for a hotel is unfortunate and very frustrating; however what is more disheartening and tragic is that the government has not helped these families and they have been completely abandoned by their government.

Tell the government of Chad that they must support and help these forcefully evicted families.

We the undersigned sincerely ask the government of Chad to support and help the hundreds of families forcefully evicted to make way for a hotel in the Sabangali area of N’Djamena. These families have very few alternatives and many are living outside under the trees because they have nowhere to go. As these people were forced out of their homes and now have nowhere to live, it is imperative for the government to support them as that is their duty as the leaders of this country.

Please show your people and the world that you support your citizens by helping these people find new homes.

Thank you.
