Help Stop Police Officers From Using Excessive Force On Animals!!!
I am wanting to know what can be done and if anyone can help us. On Sept.21st a police officer entered our property and shot our family dog in front of my three children. My 13 year old daughter was standing about 4 feet from our dog when the deputy shot our dog. The deputy drew his .40 caliber revolver and began to fire it and did not look to see where or what he was shooting at and our dog Kiana jumped up and took a bullet in the chest to keep it from hitting my 13 year old daughter in the chest. Had our dog not done what she did the officer would have shot my daughter and all the police department can say is that the deputy had a right to defend himself. I do not disagree with that if that had been the situation however Kiana was simply just standing next to my daughter. It was a careless and unthoughtful act on the officers part. The officer then told my daughter that he had been chewed on by 2 other dogs previously and was not willing to take any chances what so ever. The issue I have with this is that this officer is willing to put a child's life in danger because of a fear of his and using excessive force when it is not necessary.
