Raise Your Voice Against Cosmetic Tail Docking

Let us put our voices together for those without a voice, our beloved companions, our dogs. For decades dogs have unwillingly had their tails docked solely for cosmetic purposes. Dogs whose main purpose is only as a loving house-hold pet hold no purpose to be docked.
"Tail Docking: The cutting of a purebred dog's tail to conform to a breed standard. Although this unnecessary cosmetic surgery is regularly performed by some veterinarians, it is often done by untrained individuals, without anesthesia, in unsterile environments. - ASPCA"
In order to save money, breeders will often dock the tail of a puppy themselves without the use anesthesia, and is often done in unsterile environments.
Those with a heart cannot deny the failure of providing anesthesia for an amputation is, in fact, cruelty. The puppy exhibits pain during the time the tail is docked and can be heard from the screams the puppy voices.
Docking the tail of a pet is barbaric and needs to be put to an end.
The tail serves the dog for many purposes. The dog uses the tail for balance and with a docked tail the dog is forced to stand with spread stance to regain proper balance. Apart from balance the tail is also used to communicate with other dogs and to convey emotions.
Docking should only be done if the dog has a serious health condition or is used for hunting and/or sporting. Show dogs should not be docked if the dog is purely for show and as a family dog. Tail docking is a tradition that needs to end, raise your voice against tail docking!
Show dogs should define beauty with the dog as a whole, not mutilated to meet "breed standards."
