Stop cyber crime on singles dating sites.

This petition addresses the problem of criminal scamming on online dating sites.

Many of these dating sites post profiles of available members that are not real profiles but posted by criminal gangs etc. from overseas who subscribe to the site for the purpose of extracting personal information from members for the purpose of ID theft and to get dating site members to send them money claiming they want to come to the United States to meet the person they are scamming.

Usually they have no intention of coming to the U.S. and simply want to rip off members or get personal info for identity theft etc.

There is also a possibility since these sites are so poorly regulated that they could be used for the purpose of human smuggling, drug running and the sexual exploitation of women and children.

Most of these sights are well aware of this criminal activity but make no real effort to regulate this type of activity because they make large profits from these criminals who subscibe for the purpose of ripping people off.

The profile photos of those scamming usually feature men or women who look like
models or actresses but when they are contacted claim to be overseas at the moment and need money etc....most likely these "women" are actually men...the profiles are usually badly written and somewhat simple or unintelligable, but not always.....some are well written.

We the undersigned agree with the author of this petition and would like to see these dating sites better regulate the people who use them by requiring them to come into an actual office to show ID and have their dating site profile photos taken in the dating site office and, in general, to verify their info and identity better by regularly rechecking their ID.

For these dating sites administrators to not do so is to be a party to the criminal activity, deception, humiliation, damage and theft being done.

Here is some contact info for Homeland Security and major dating sites, let them know how you feel....and ask them to better regulate these sites.
