The Governor of Alaska is holding a fundraiser in Anchorage for the Alaska Republican Party Senate Majority Fund. He is asking for people to donate again to the Alaska Republican Party.
Not so fast. This is to raise money for Republican Senators, the same group whose official representative, Senator Bert Stedman, has participated in the current coup to remove the duly elected grassroots leadership of the Republican Party!
The Alaska Republican Party's House Republican Majority is holding a fundraiser too. Again, not so fast. This is the same group whose official representative, Rep. Craig Johnson, has also participated in the ongoing coup to remove the duly elected leadership of the Republican Party.
I have signed the following letter to our elected officials and invite you to sign it as well. Today our elected officials stand by with silent approval or official "neutrality" about the ongoing coup that is currently taking place within the Alaska Republican Party. But what does it mean to be neutral while the duly elected grassroots leaders of their party are being attacked in a coup d'état by outgoing party leadership and in some cases by other Republican legislators and staffers?
What it means to us today, is that it is time to stop donating money to the Alaska Republican Party. I hope that you will join with us in signing the attached letter to our elected officials in Alaska. It is time we require that our Republican elected officials speak out against the current coup taking place in the party that supported them when they were running for office. While their silence continues, we will NOT be donating money to the Alaska Republican Party:
· We will not be donating to the Alaska Republican Party's Senate Majority Fund.
· We will not be donating to the Alaska Republican Party's House Republican Majority Fund.
· We will not be donating to the Alaska Republican Party's General Fund.
The Governor wants us to donate to the Alaska Republican Party.
Our answer. Not a red cent!
To Governor Parnell and Republican members of the Alaska State Legislature:
Please know that I will not be contributing funds to the Alaska Republican Party, or the Republican Senate Majority Fund, or the House Republican Majority Fund, while our elected Republican officials remain silent about the ongoing coup that is currently taking place within the Alaska Republican Party.
