"THE COACH WITH NOT ONLY THE MOST HEART BUT WITH THE MOST WINS IN WHITESBORO HISTORY!!"
Yesterday something not only shocking but devastating happened in our small town! As of 2/11/2019 the Whitesboro ISD School Board has voted to not renew the contract for Athletic Director and Head Coach, Eddie Gill. This decision was made against the recommendation and desire of WISD's own Superintendent Ryan Harper. It was truly a sad day in a small town when 4 people get to decide the fate of not only this coach, his family but most of all the outstanding role model our youth has had for over 13 years. This individual has effected countless lives both past, present and with the help of a few board members, future. This community has had the pleasure of watching Coach Gill mentor a multitude of our youth. The level of respect that he has shown has cultivated so many respectable members of our community. Our youth have been lead by example to honor their own values and respect everyone around them. I have spoken to a handful of kids he has coached over the years and some he is coaching now and they are truly heart broken! If you get online and look up his name you will see things such as .....
1. A mom saying how truly amazing it is that her son came so far because of COACH Gill..
2. You can find where Coach is very Godly man and sound role model for the youth of our community (in the words of his students and players both past and present).
3.He has raised two amazing children, one of which is Coach Jordan Gill, is a WISD coach.
4. Coach made history for WISD by taking the football program to 8 consecutive playoff appearances. Which was previously unattainable in the last 100 years.
5. According to online National Stats (Maxpreps.com) when Coach started with WISD in 2004 the national ranking for Whiteboro's high school football program was #9,754. Now as of 2018, Coach Gill and his staff has achieved # 2,827 RANKING! Go Bearcats!
6. Today when talking to one of his students he describes coach as a Godly man, a man who faces adversity well, he says that "his coach" means well in every situation...this student also told me that coach makes sure to help the kids be loyal and hard working. Coach also helps them to not only develop goals but to push his students toward achieving them.
7. Coach is a truly amazing man who is being treated unfairly ... spend 5 minutes around him and I can promise you will never meet anyone like him ever.
In closing, we are requesting the Whitesboro ISD School Board to reconsider renewing Athletic Director / Coach Eddie Gill's contract of employment. On behalf of myself and the members of this community on this petition we thank you for your consideration!
