War on Iraq is Wrong
We, the undersigned, petition the US Senate to prevent the Bush administration from starting an unprovoked preemptive war against Iraq.
We believe war on Iraq is wrong.For the United States to abandon a defensive, international-law position and lead the world into chaos whereby any nation may make an unprovoked "preemptive" strike against another without any UN Security Council decision is dangerous to our own and the world's security.
For the administration to engage in this planned war under the banner of the "war on terrorism" is duplicitous. There is no evidence that Iraq is involved with al queda and no evidence that Iraq had any involvement with 9-11. Basing the reason on guessing that Iraq might make such contact with terrorists in the future is an unacceptable reason.
What war powers was given Mr. Bush under the War on Terrorism Act, should not apply to attacking Iraq.
