Return Women's Softball for 2012
To petition the IOC to re-instate women's softball in the 2012 Olympics.
We the undersigned, take issue with the removal of women's softball for the 2012 Olympics based on the reasoning that it is "too American". During the 2004 Olympics in Greece, there were four Asian teams, two European Teams, and another North American team. There is also a European softball organization, and the annual Pan-American tournament with numerous countries from the Western Hemisphere fielding softball teams. We feel that the exclusion of a bona-fide sport from the Olympics, while there are numerous events in the Olympics that hardly qualify as sports (sychronized swimming, table tennis, and equestrian events to name a few), is nothing more than an attempt to either reduce the medal count for the United States or to reduce the expense of building an appropriate venue for the sport in London. petitie tekenenpetitie tekenen
