It is important to not forget to hold our world leaders accountable. Former US President George W. Bush is no exception. Amnesty International recently put out a
press release demanding that African leaders follow their obligations under international law and arrest Bush, who is currently visiting the region. There is currently enough evidence to bring charges against the former President for authorizing water-boarding, a widely recognized method of torture, during his time in office.
According to the press release: "Amnesty International recognizes the value of raising awareness about cervical and breast cancer in Africa, the stated aim of the visit, but this cannot lessen the damage to the fight against torture caused by allowing someone who has admitted to authorizing water-boarding to travel without facing the consequences prescribed by law."

We the undersigned wish to encourage you to follow your obligations under international law and ensure that former US President George W. Bush is arrested during his visit to your country. According to Amnesty International, perhaps the most famous human rights organization, there is enough evidence to bring charges against Bush for authorizing water-boarding during his time in office. Mr. Bush even admitted to doing so in his own book.
Water-boarding is of course an infamous method of torture. It was frequently used by the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. This is a disgusting practice and it has no place in the modern world. Those who prescribe it as an acceptable method of interrogation should be held accountable. A former US President is no exception.
