An Urban Garden is an agricultural use on a small plot within a community where an individual, or group, grows and harvests food and/or non-food crops for consumption, donation, or sale for profit. Gardens may be divided into separate plots for cultivation by one or more individuals, or may be farmed collectively by members of the group. Urban Gardens may include common areas maintained and used by group members. Depending on the site of such gardens, conditional use permits would be necessary to establish greenhouses, and produce stand structures, as well as off the street parking areas. Urban Gardens help meet needs for local food production, community health, community education, garden related job training, environmental enhancement, preservation of green space, and community enjoyment.
