Don't Steal Our NJ State Recreational Parks

We, the undersigned, are opposed to Governor Corzine's closing of State Parks in NJ. They offer a Four Season array of recreational activities, including, camping, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, and nature programs. These offerings can and are enjoyed by all of our citizenry, and are a boon to our State Tourism. Many of them are host to our State and Governments defining moments.
The closing of 9 of our State Parks, and partial elimination of services and/or closures of 3 of our State Parks would greatly impact our state in a negative manner. Many of the historical and nature interpretive programs will be cancelled. Camping, swimming, boating, and fishing activities will be cancelled or closed in certain parks. These parks offer an inexpensive alternative to costly vacations that can be enjoyed by all economic levels. Many of our citizens enjoy these facilities on an everyday basis, as a start or end to their day. These closures will profoundly effect the physical, and mental well being of our citizens.
The closing of these State parks is supossed to amount to an $8.8 million dollar reduction in the State Budget. This amount directly correlates to the loss of $9 million dollars of tax payer money, that Governor Corzine allocated to study the benefits of toll implementation on Rt.80 and Rt.78 that was not to be realized.
State Park closures are not the answer to New Jersey's budget problems.
