If Susan G. Komen For The Cure Wants To Play Politics, They Should Not Benefit From Click-To-Donate

As of January 31, 2012, Susan G. Komen For The Cure, an organization widely recognized and respected for its work in finding a cure for breast cancer, announced that they will no longer provide any funding to Planned Parenthood.

While they have tried rationalizing this move, it is clear that the reason is that Planned Parenthood offers abortion services, even though this accounts for only a portion of the services that they offer.

Most of Planned Parenthood's services benefit those who are most in need, and cutting funding for them could have severe consequences, such as preventing women with low income from being able to detect breast cancer, which should be the very type of situation Susan G. Komen For The Cure should be trying to prevent.

In the meantime, the organization specified for donations from the advertising revenue in the Breast Cancer category of Care2's Click-To-Donate section is the very same Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

Until this organization reverses this unfortunate and misguided decision, it doesn't make sense to allow them to benefit from the generosity of Care2's donations, which could then be considered as following the same political motives.

As a result, we, the undersigned of this petition, request for Care2 to either find a more suitable, and less politically motivated beneficiary of the Click-To-Donate actions OR to change the category from "Breast Cancer" to "Women's Health" with Planned Parenthood as the beneficiary of the donations.
