Keep Children OFF MySpace & Facebook
It is WAY too easy for children/young teens to set up MySpace and Facebook profiles. All they have to do is lie and click "yes" when they are asked if they are 18 or older, or type in a birth-year 5 years earlier than the real one! Sign this petition to help invoke stricter access to social networks meant for adults.
Thousands of children (and maybe even yours) are exploiting themselves to millions of people on MySpace and Facebook, leaving them vulnerable to predators and cyber-bullying. Thanks to the oversexed modern media and the international hype over these social networks, the lives of children are in danger. Kids are naive, immature and oftentimes are unable to practice good judgment when it comes to the pressures of popularity among their peers. To them, having a MySpace/Facebook page equals cool. However, they may not realize who exactly they are exposing themselves to.
Are you a parent whose child does NOT have a MySpace/FB page?... Are you sure about that? Kids may be unaware of the dangers of social networking, but they aren't stupid. With this generation's advanced knowledge of technology and the internet, it's a lot easier than you might think to create a profile behind your back. So, you might want to double-check your computer to be sure.Please join the fight to keep children and young teenagers safe; off social networking sites and out of trouble!
