Save New Hampshire Public Charter Schools
Dear New Hampshire Residents,
Charter schools are public schools that provide options to parents and students. They are chartered by the state board of education to serve any student in the state. District public schools serve the vast majority of students, but even in the best schools there will be students whose needs are not met. Charter schools provide a free and public opportunity for all of these children. They are a symbiotic complement to the powerful work that district public schools are already doing.
Currently, charter schools do not receive funding that is sustainable. I call upon all citizens who care about the health of our public education system and therefore our economy, history, culture and our kids to sign this petition and call their legislators to ask them to support House Bill 1639. The New Hampshire Public Charter School Association supports this bill which would provide permanent, sustainable funding to charter schools, without negatively impacting district public schools. The Education Committee of the House will hear this bill on January 29th so your call now is critical. If this bill or other funding is not passed this year, seven out of the ten charter schools will close. This will, effectively, be the end of charter schools as a viable education reform effort. We are a society of citizens engaged for the common good and now is your opportunity to engage.
Sincerely,
Bill Wilmot

Seacoast Charter School
We petition the NH legislature to support charter schools to create a permanent, sustainable funding solution for charter schools for next year.
