Dear Friend / Comrade
We are a group of individuals concerned about the situation in Gaza. We seek your help.
The world witnessed arrogant invasion of Gaza strip by Israel for three long weeks. Israel declared a "unilateral" ceasefire only after the attacks left more than 1,300 people dead and 1.5 million affected. Like you, we seek an immediate end to the seizure of Gaza, and not just eyewash of a "unilateral" ceasefire. In the longer run we dream to see a free state of Palestine, where every citizen will have human rights.
Any sensible human being understands that there could be a political solution. There may be academic debate on the solution, but it is accepted by most of the concerned citizens of this world that a "two state solution" is the only pragmatic one. However, this solution has been consistently rejected by the state of Israel, and that rejection has always been endorsed by the United States of America. In view of this, we seek a change in the American foreign policy on Israel.
We all know how close AIPAC is to all the administrations in Washington D.C. since 1967. The polity and the policies of the United States of America are being governed by AIPAC interests. We think, in order to bring any change in the American foreign policies on Israel, the foremost need is to counter AIPAC in the domain of interest group politics within the borders of the United States of America. We envision a pro-Palestine interest group in action in the power corridors of Washington D.C., and we seek your help regarding realization of the same.
There are more than a hundred pro-Palestine organizations in the U.S.A. who dream the same dream as us. All of these organizations work for peace in Palestine, and for equal rights to the indigenous Palestinian population. Each of these organizations has the same (common) goal, namely end of the occupation via a political solution. However, it is difficult to bring them in one united platform because of minor politico-ideological differences. If we can get all these organizations in a single unified platform, we may discuss a roadmap to build a strong pro-Palestine interest group in Washington D.C. that can counter AIPAC. Only that way we can bring changes in the American foreign policy on Israel.
Our proposal plan is as follows:
We intend to reach out to various organizations that work for the Palestinian cause.
Our proposal is to write to the organizations with a call for a conference of all the organizations that are willing to be part of a unified platform that will work towards formation of a pro-Palestine interest group in Washington D.C. Since your domain of activity is spread across all over U.S.A., we request you to convene and organize the conference.
The unified platform will be launched in that conference, along with a program.
The objective of the program will be to build up a pro-Palestine interest group in Washington D.C. to counter AIPAC, within an agreed upon timeframe.
This may not be the first such effort. May be such efforts failed in the past. Nevertheless, we want to try it again. We are no experts in international politics. We are not even seasoned activists. We are concerned and we want to make a difference. We seek your help and co-operation. Kindly get back to us with your response.
