Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), The John McNamara Foundation and Pacific Heart Lung & Blood Institute (PHLBI), founding coalition member, have joined forces in a unified effort to change the California State Rock from Serpentine.
Serpentine serves as a host rock for deadly chrysotile asbestos, a human carcinogen.
Please sign-on in support of our request for the California Legislature to repeal government code section 425.2 to remove Serpentine, a toxic form of asbestos ore, as the State Rock of California.
Asbestos kills tens of thousands of people every year in the United States, and hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.
Removing Serpentine as the State Rock of California is easily achievable and shows commitment to protecting public health and the environment.
