A case of systematic, horrific animal abuse has rocked the community of Santa Ana, California.
Over the course of several weeks, beloved pet cats started to go missing, one after the other. Some of their owners turned to security and CCTV footage to get to the bottom of their missing babies, and they uncovered something truly horrifying. One man seemed to be

hanging from a tree after the poor thing had gone missing.
Another recounted witnessing a man grabbing a local cat,
injecting it with a substance via a needle, and then taking off, leaving the cat to eventually
die.Many more began to post about their own dear cats' disappearances on social media, where eventually pieces began to come together --
these seemed to all be perpetrated by the same man.Eventually, police got involved and searched the man's home.
They found evidence that he killed dozens of cats inside his home, a heartbreaking discovery for so many owners who were holding out hope that their pets would be found safe.
This case is beyond terrifying. The methodical and persistent violence towards cats signals to us that this is a very dangerous man. It is unclear how many cat victims he had, but authorities think his violence may have spanned years.
Not only is this person clearly a danger to the pets in his community, he is a danger to people too. We know that violence against animals is often a predictor or goes hand-in-hand with violence against humans. That's why we're asking the prosecutors in this case to do everything they can to keep the community, and its pets, safe from this abuser.
