Stop the City of Middletown, Kentucky from Logging its Last Remaining Forests!

  • por: The People
  • destinatário: Mayor J. Byron Chapman of the City of Middletown, Middletown City Commissioners

The City of Middletown, just outside of Louisville, Kentucky, implemented a Tree Ordinance to protect the remaining trees left in its community. Now, the Mayor and the City Commissioners are planning to approve an amendment to the Tree Ordinance to allow logging. This amendment, if approved, would allow logging of the LAST remaining forests and stands of trees in a community which is already overrun with fast-food restaurants and strip malls. This community does not need fewer trees, especially when Louisville has been named as the U.S. city having the fastest warming rate in a world faced with increasing climate change due to deforestation, fossil fuel consumption, and the urban heat island effect. Please sign the petition to lend a hand in protecting this forest to provide more oxygen for you, your children, and future generations. The foxes, owls, woodpeckers, wild turkeys, raccoons, deer and other animals that inhabit these forests send you their (hopefully) enduring gratitude.
