GRANDPARENT'S RIGHTS IN TEXAS

N/a

We are grandparents of a 4 year old granddaughter who was raised in our home along with her mother, (our daughter) for 2 years.  Our daughter decided without our knowledge to allow the other grandparents to adopt our granddaughter.  Our daughter did not get any counseling, or an attorney, so therefore had no representation.  The adoptive grandparents did not seek counsel for her, or suggest she have any visitation rights, and they were supposedly on her side.  We are all now being cut off from seeing our granddaughter.   There should be a law enacted that grandparents who have had a significant part in raising their grandchildren, (upon review of a court appointed guardian amicus ad litem attorney assigned to represent the child, and upon this amicus decision,) said grandparents should be able to have standing and get visitation rights even if their own daughter gives up her rights.   ALSO,  ANY teen, from 13-19, should be assigned an atty (if they cannot afford one) and required to have this atty represent their rights in adoption cases.  They should KNOW THEIR RIGHTS  before giving up their child, so if they do in fact want to stay active in their child's life, will have the knowledge that visitation rights for them can be worked out in the adoption decree.  Please join me in my petition.  This is being started in loving support of one day having a close relationship with our precious granddaughter BLC.  Thank you.
