Justice for Samantha Geimer
You (Hollywood) and those who support your industry are being tested. When the rape of a 13 year old child is brushed off as a youthful indiscretion by a 44 year old man, and it is the rapist himself, (Roman Polanski, a fugitive) who is portrayed by "some" in Hollywood and the media as the victim, then it is time to speak with one voice against this kind of travesty! Polanski has not yet received punishment for his crime. He fled and has been running from justice for thirty years. Let us hope he receives his punishment soon. Hollywood needs to raise their voice and make sure the shame of his crime is not diminished because of how long ago it happened. His crime should be seen as the horrific act that it was then and is today! But please understand, this is bigger than Roman Polanski. Show your support for all rape victims who have never received their justice. Do it for your child. Show the world that Hollywood defends the smallest and the weakest amongst us, and that not all of Hollywood supports the dismissal of Roman Polanski's actions. This is our challenge to you Hollywood. What will you do with it?
We the undersigned do herby denounce and condemn the actions of movie maker Roman Polanski and his decision to flee the United States thirty years ago in order to avoid justice in the drugging and raping of thirteen year old Samantha Geimer. He does not represent Hollywood or those who support the industry by their patronage. His crimes against a thirteen year old child are despicable. His fleeing the country is cowardly. His lack of remorse is unconscionable. And he deserves to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of law. The fact that he is a movie maker is of little, if any, relevance, and certainly not a sufficient reason to give this child rapist a pass.
