DEMAND BETTER AND HEALTHIER LUNCHES IN THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT

Today, February 7th, 2018, I came across a photograph of the Little Rock School Districts lunch. I have 2 children that go to school in Jonesboro and I have first hand experience on what each of them have for lunch everyday. No, I do not eat lunch with them everyday, but I do know that it is a nutritional, filling, edible meal. Not only one school in Jonesboro, but all of the schools here have filling edible lunches, and breakfast. When I saw the photograph of the meal the students of the Little Rock School District had, I was absolutely disgusted. I even felt saddened for the children whose only source of food is at school. On the small Styrofoam plate was one thin slice of ham, a small piece of cornbread and a cup of something I couldn't even figure out until a friend told me it was supposed to be sweet potatoes. My words do no justice to what the food looked like. I would be livid if my child only had that small, unhealthy lunch everyday. There were no other meals to choose from. I propose we start with this petition and have the school district follow through with changing all of the cafeteria food for every grade. I believe every child should have a filling, edible, healthy meal at school. There should be no excuse.
