Barely a month after Adam Lanza mercilessly shot down 20 little children and 6 dedicated educators at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, there is talk of a video game that allows one to recreate the horrific events of December 14, 2012.
According to a recent article, an anonymous individual who goes by the online alias “gizmo01942” is creating this new video game called “Class Warfare” in which the player assumes the role as a gunman where he/she can “shoot” on the campus and different classrooms of a re-created layout of the Sandy Hook Elementary School. “I’ll definitely have child death screams, but no tutorials,” said the game’s anonymous conceiver and adding that it will also have “clear and offensive references to autism.”
If this isn’t sickening enough, this twisted video game, criticized by Sean Hannity of Fox News, already includes a part allowing a player to target NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre as he gives a speech about banning violent video games and “shoot” him and NRA president David Keene in the head, with gruesome and disturbing visual and sound effects.
It is the very idea of what gives those with mental illness, or perhaps anybody, the idea that shooting down as many people as you can is a victory.
This needs to be stopped immediately. Before the day of the shooting at Newtown, Adam Lanza reportedly spent hours locked in the basement of his mother’s home playing violent games that undoubtedly encouraged his rage. That and his access to powerful guns designed to kill multiple people within seconds. Enough is enough.
