This petition is for the rally of a reform of the TINTED WINDOWS laws in the state of New Jersey. During most of the year, the sun is very bright and hot. This can make driving a difficult task, even with sun glasses, glare off of other objects and the sun light in general can make it hard to see where you're going. In most states, some degree of front door window tint is legal, but not here in the great state of NJ. Here in NJ, thanks to title 39:3-74 if you tint your windows to make driving easier, safer, and more comfortable for yourself and others you are punished with numerous $55 tickets a year, and profiled. Window tint has MANY advantages, some of which include a cooler interior in the summer, your air conditioner will not have to work as hard, leading to improved fuel economy, filtration of UVA and UVB rays, prevents sun damage to interior of the vehicle, prevents being blinded by your side view mirrors at night from headlights behind you, privacy, makes it harder for would-be-theives from seeing inside of your parked vehicle, and can even prevent flying glass shards in the event of a collision. I have 20% tint on my car and can not tell you how many times I have been stopped and ticketed for this offense. Many times the same officers that write me for this offense get back into their HEAVILY tinted police cruisers to write the ticket. Every time I am pulled over I immediately roll down all windows, turn my hazards on, engine off, and place BOTH hands on the steering wheel, to put the officers mind at ease. This title is clearly only put in place to generate more revenue for the state. Let's make a change now and make our driving experience easier and LEGAL at the same time! I'd also like to note that this is NOT for windshield tint. It is for driver and passenger FRONT windows.

Especially now that most new cars Come standard with VERY bright HID style head lamps, privacy, makes it harder for would-be-theives from seeing inside of your parked vehicle, and can even prevent flying glass shards in the event of a collision. Tint prevents the driver from exposure to the sun during car rides. A majority of people drive on average at least and hour and a half a day just in commuting. The rays from the sun can cause skin cancer and hurt the eyes medically. I have 20% tint on my car and can not tell you how many times I have been stopped and ticketed for this offense. Many times the same officers that write me for this offense get back into their HEAVILY tinted police cruisers to write the ticket. Many people say tint is illegal for "officer safety" however, many neighboring states permit front door window tint, and not only that, but every time I am pulled over I immediately roll down all windows, turn my hazards on, engine off, and place BOTH hands on the steering wheel, to put the officers mind at ease.
