Herbert Thompson is a man who in the past was a lawless person and would not allow his conscience to guide him. He was rightfully arrested and charged with breaking the law in 2010,
Since that time he has worked hard to redeem himself and has ceased from all illegal activity. He is a God loving, humble man who is now living to lead by example, for others who have chosen as he once did to live lawlessly.
He even has plans on opening a rehabilitation for men and women who want to educate themselves and live a productive, law abiding life regardless of their past.
He is a faithfull loving husband to a loving faithful wife and the father of two young children who all need their daddy at home.
Herbie has been successfull in running his own business in mechanics and construction. Though of late there has been a slow and struggle due to his physical disabilities caused by a horrible accident a few years back and of course the economy being as challenenged as it is at this time in our nation.
Since 2010 he has not violated probation and has done everything to redeem himself in complete obeiance of the law and stipulations of probation.
On Oct. 19th 2012 Friday, Herbert and his brother went to Winn Dixie pharmacy to pick up their ailing fathers perscription medications. On the way back home they were stopped by Madison county police officers who chose to do an illegal search and seizure of their vehicle and perscription medications, of which Herbie must have with him (his own medication) at all times due to his medical conditions. They were both arrested and the following morning were released by Judge Blair as there was no legal right of arrest or the search and seizure.
Now, due to the state proccess of probation there is the possibility of VOP/ violation of probation.
After two years of solidity and succeeding in living as a productive law abiding citizen working hard to redeem himself and show his family and friends that even a person who has "messed up their own life", can redeem themselves and live according to the righteous laws of the land, he is now faced with going to prison for something he did not do!!!
He is not blaming anyone and realized the police were trying to just do their job.
However, the truth is Herbie and his brother did nothing nor were they doing anything illegal or lawless on any level.
This was a serious happenstance and a mistake on the part of the Madison city police trying to do their job and showing like Herbie we are all human and make mistakes.
This mistake could have epic negative proportions for Herbie his entire life and his precious already struggling family..
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION to help Herbie STAY ON THE RIGHT TRACK and not be lost in the system by being FALSLY ACCUSED causing a violation of probation.Which would destroy the life he has been working so hard to rebuild and be an example to many others to live righteously!!
After all his hard work, to live and do right, he needs to see that the system will do righteously by him and his family, by owning their mistake and dropping the entire matter.
It starts with this petition and ALL OF US who know and love Herbie and his family..
I think of the many times he has gone out of his way to help others over the last two years.. even many times to his own hurt as heis one of the most kind and generous people I have ever had the honor of knowing!!
