Dear Prime Minister Julia Gillard,
We the undersigned congratulate you on becoming Prime Minister of our beautiful home Australia. It is only via generosity and cooperation that we can solve the complex, evolving and multi-faceted issues facing our nation today. We inherited our Australian political system from eighteenth century England. Our political system, however, has a structural bias towards war and consequently needs updating. Australia now has an opportunity to take the lead in developing a culture of peace. In order to assist to rectify this imbalance and help create a culture of peace we Australians invite you to join us in supporting our proposal for a Ministry of Peace and encourage a national conversation about this critical issue. Thank you for taking the time to consider this vital proposal which has the potential to transform so many lives. Lets aim to leave the next generation with a legacy and a political system that supports peace, sustainability, justice and equity and human rights for all people.
