Enforce Felony punishment on those who have killed thousands of Raptors
Right now it is a Class B Misdemeanor under the Migratory Bird Act for killing a Raptor. Recently 2,000-3,000 Raptors were being killed on the west coast by Piegon Hobbyists using horrid methods such as poisoning, beating birds with clubs and suffocation in plastic bags. The 13 men who were charged with these crimes only received a slap on the wrist after pleading guilty. Ultimately this should be a felony as many states are now chaning their laws for Animal abuse to a felony. This has to change so that these men and others who commit these unlawful acts will serve there sentences and pay for what they did.
We the undersigned hereby request that the crime of class b misdemeanor under the Migratory Bird Act for illegally killing thousands of Birds of Prey on the West coast be increased to a felony level. This is an apalling act of inhumanity to a protected species and should be punishable by law.
