Zoe is a 14yr old girl who suffers with autism and high anxiety. She has been home schooled and ignored by our local authority for the last 3 years. We have found Zoe the perfect school and it is for autistic children, she has just finished a 4 day taster session and in that time has changed completely!!!! She has been talking, was confident, made 4 friends!! And the best thing ever happened she smiled and laughed for the first time in a very long time, the quiet sad lonely girl went and she was amazing! Now this is where i need your help, you see the local authority without my consent or permission have put Zoe's name on roll in another mainstream secondary school that she can't cope in, we looked at the school and it's huge they said she would be in a unit but it isn't it's a room that she goes to at the end of the day. I asked for funding for her to go to the special school they have refused point blank BUT they would pay the mainstream school more money to take her?? How does this make sense? How is this fair? They say that they have a duty of care for children, well that isn't caring that's sending a rabbit into a lions den BUT it can be avoided. Zoe is a lovely girl and despite her difficulties works hard for our village raising money for charity all year and even makes a Santa's grotto in our garden every December and buys presents for all the children who come and see it from her own pocket money! Please help us get enough support to fight and overturn the local authority, she deserves the education and support she desperately needs. I know the world will never accept children like Zoe so it's my job to get Zoe to accept our world, I can't do that alone anymore.
