Scotland: Don't Cull White-Tailed Eagles!

White-tailed sea eagles were recently reintroduced to Scotland from Norway and are just starting to make a comeback. There are now about 80 breeding pairs of eagles on the west coast, and they are starting to establish a population on the east coast.

Sheep farmers are growing concerned about the birds and claim they are killing their lambs in large numbers. Scientists say that's not the case: the birds are most likely to feed on carrion, and live lamb attacks are rare. Still, farmers are calling for a cull.

The government can find humane ways to control eagles without killing them, and it is wrong to harm the birds when they are just starting to recover their populations. Please sign the petition to convince the Scotland Government not to cull white-tailed eagles!

As you know, white-tailed sea eagles were recently reintroduced to Scotland from Norway and are just starting to make a comeback. There are now about 80 breeding pairs of eagles on the west coast, and they are starting to establish a population on the east coast.

We understand that sheep farmers are growing concerned about the birds and claim they are killing their lambs in large numbers. Scientists say that's not the case: the birds are most likely to feed on carrion, and live lamb attacks are rare. Still, farmers are calling for a cull.

We believe there are humane ways to control animals without killing them, such as setting up barriers, and it is wrong to harm the birds when they are just starting to recover their populations. We respectfully urge you to avoid harming white-tailed eagles. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
