Letter to President Obama - Israel & International Law

Dear President Obama,                                                           5/25/09

 

I am writing this letter to you to congratulate you on at least taking a positive stand on at least the 2 state solution in Palestine and have ordered Israel to STOP building settlements in occupied territories.  Again, you have taken a stand on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict at least on the surface, which no other President has done since President Jimmy Carter was in office.

 

Now the true nature of my concern on your stance on Israel and what it must do and since we give them financial aid, it is Israel that should be listening to the US, not the other way around!  It seems to have NOT been the case before, since very little was done to Israel for war crimes against civilians at all, but to turn the other eye away as if Israel was doing nothing bad is a crime in itself!  I ask you, is Israel to become our 51st State, or are we to become the 2nd State of Israel?  I seem to think it is the latter, since we seem to do nothing about the atrocities Israel has done in the name of self defense against a defenseless CIVILIAN population.  And all the US does, thanks to the powerful lobby of AIPAC, is keep funding this kind of behavior, in effect saying we condone it, here's some more money, carry on. 

 

And if you want to know why I say this, even though you have taken a stance on this issue, let me show you just what Israel says about what they will do, regardless of what the US policy is now on Israel and I quote some headlines that belittle your efforts and Israel, just like a malevolent child, disobeys the new policy outright because of such long support for their justifications of self defense.  In case you haven't

seen the headlines, I have and so have many other people, including Americans.  Here is what Netanyahu said after (and some before) your meeting with him as well as others:

These are some of the few headlines, there are more taunting how Israel through AIPAC, controls US decisions on US policy toward Israel AND Palestine!  There should be NO lobbying in the US from outside international sources and when they do, should be rebuked for trying to influence US policy based on what's good for them, namely Israel.

 

Israel keeps pushing us to do their dirty work and guess who will be blamed along with Israel for this yep the US!  Do you know what the 2 bars on the Israeli flag stand for?  They stand for from the Nile to the Euphrates with the Star of David in the middle.  Just what do you think that means?  They already got us to nullify Egypt with Camp David, where the Nile is located and now we did their dirty work in Iraq, where, guess what, the Euphrates is located!  I have NO doubt that Israel had something to do with the misinformation of weapons of mass destruction just to get the US involved and get them a step closer to their aim.

 

There are only 2 obstacles in their way.  One is Lebanon, who they have been trying to occupy for decades without success and which stands in the way of the Euphrates.  The second is that Israel keeps pressuring us to attack Iran, why?  Are they a real threat to us or are they a threat to Israel and again, Israel wants the US to do its dirty work.  Why are we bowing to Israel politicking and pressure to make us do what they want us to do, then disobey just about everything the US has asked them to do.  They hemmed and hawed over the 2 State solutions with Arafat, who was ready to recognize Israel in order to create a Palestinian state.  So what do they do, render the PLO useless by their attacks on PLO headquarters, and in my opinion, had something to do with starting Hamas to counteract the strength and authority of the PLO.  And voila, we are at the point where Israel wants us to be and almost impossible thing to do to create a 2 State solution.

 

I am tired of Israels tactics, not only on the Palestinians, but also on the US, which OUR citizens have to pay for Israels own agenda, not ours!  It is time to cut them loose because you well know that they will do what they want, in spite of what the US policy wants them to do, and get us embroiled more deeply in the middle east so we are as hated as they are.  Israel has NOT complied with UN resolution 242 calling it to withdraw from occupied lands to PRE 1967 BORDERS, which we voted no on, and ignores every resolution in the UN and world opinion.  Why, because we are their trump card and they feel above the law everyone in the international community must follow.

 

The last thing I will point out to you, as having been a taxpayer, with my money partly going to Israel at the tune of about $17.75 every year. Every President and Congress has violated its own law to the absolute degree when it comes to Israel which I will state for you in case you don't know it:

US foreign aid law prohibits military AND economic aid to any country, which engages in

A constant pattern of gross violations of Internationally recognized human rights

Section 501(B) and 116(a) Foreign Assistance act

 

Now just tell me where Israel is innocent of killing civilians, cutting off Gaza from the rest of the world, basically imprisoning its civilian population with starvation, dire need for medical supplies, and BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS, while they constantly harass them.  This is done against the UN resolutions to stop and every so often go into Gaza and bulldoze a number of houses down with only a few minutes warning to deflate Palestinian hope and to make them leave!  They keep playing the Hamas card and it old and tired and most definitely NOT true.  They are doing this solely for the purpose of absorbing both Gaza and the West Bank into Israel, and really are NOT interested in a 2 state solution.  Tell me, even in this past decade, where Israel did NOT violate human rights? 

 

I will leave you with 2 headlines, since the US seems to defy its own foreign aid laws as if all lawmakers can do what they want and refuse to see to what extent Israel is violating them.  It is about the safety of the civilians, especially the children, and cares NOT about ONE Palestinian because they consider them sub-Human, shades of South Africa and we made sure they were boycotted heavily!

Those are just a few of Israels violation of internationally recognized Human Rights laws.  If the US doesn't act on condemning Israel, like most of the world does on this issue, then we risk Israel dragging the US into to a WWIII for their Zionist philosophy and have us do the work to carry it out.  As a result of this, and the US law on foreign aid, I, as do MANY American taxpayers demand the cut off of funds to Israel and let Israel deal with it's own problems without our war machine money and other financial aid.  Israel would be lucky to last a year in their blatant disregard for Human Dignity!!!

As a world citizen, I am outraged that $3 billion of US foreign aid goes to Israel every year to commit atrocities and degrade and humiliate the native Palestinians.  Israel has broken ALL international and UN laws by it's illegal occupation and settlements, yet continues to do so, even after International laws have called for them to end!

I am also very upset that the US follows a wholly different view on funding Israel when it states in your OWN foreign aid policy that you should NOT be doing so.  I ask that the US immediately stop of the funding of the Israeli war machine unless Israel stops its harassment and killing of Palesinian civilians and HALTS and dismantles ALL settlements and abides by ALL international laws.  If it does not, I will contribute to ANY Palestinian organization that will help fund the Palestinians with Aid and protection to nuetralize your aid to them.
