A Dance at the Souhegan High School to Fundraise the Hope for Gus Foundation

We, the undersigned, propose the idea of bringing a dance in the fall back to Souhegan High School, combined with the Hope for Gus festivities.
We believe there should be one football game each year dedicated to rallying up school spirit. We feel as though the Hope for Gus football game would be the best game to achieve this goal. The money paid to get into the game, as well dance admissions will go on to benefit the Hope for Gus foundation.
Currently, the policy at SHS is that there is no dance in the fall and only prom in the spring. Although only juniors and seniors are aloud to attend prom without a date. The reason there is no dance in the fall is because of timing, scheduling, and attendance issues. Furthermore, we agree that the dance should be the Saturday after the Hope for Gus football game. This dance will not only be fun but also beneficial because it will raise school spirit and help raise even more funds for Hope for Gus.
School spirit can be seen helping kids in many different ways, from focusing better in class and even excelling academically. Through gathered research, we have found that when students are brought together and given a distraction from academics, they tend to do better in class. The would be a nice way of bringing all grades together, as opposed to our school spirit week ‘Fang Fest’, which is a week celebrated by means of friendly competition.
The Harris Poll market research company, in business for over 20 years, conducted surveys with about 1,500 students, parents and principles altogether. These show that students who are achieving strongly tend to be involved in different clubs, sports and other extracurricular activities. One of these outside activities that raise school spirit would be the dance. School spirit gives each and every student connectivity to their school and peers and allow them to collect thrilling high school memories that everyone deserves to have. Therefore, this dance would be a way to help Souhegan High School students thrive.
