You may have never heard of colorimetric drug tests, but they have the potential to ruin your life if you live in the United States.
These drug tests are commonly used by law enforcement because they're inexpensive, highly portable, and quick. The only problem? They can be incorrect from 15%, to 38%, up to 91% of the time according to various studies.

When colorimetric drugs tests land people wrongly in jail, it is a living nightmare. People have to wait, jailed for months, to get a reliable, lab-based drug test. Often, they are pressured into pleading guilty just so they can get out of jail and continue on with their lives.
Even the drug test makers themselves know and warn that their tests can be inaccurate, issuing labels that their should always be confirmed by an official lab test! It is thus deplorable that law enforcement use colorimetric tests as the sole evidence used to jail a person.
But Colorado recently fought back against this injustice, passing a law that requires law enforcement to get another layer of confirmation beyond the colorimetric drug test before they can charge a person.
This should be adopted across the entire United States. There is absolutely no reason that innocent people should be sent to jail because of law enforcement's ineptitude!
